  1. I don't know much about Macs but I bought an early 2009 Mac Pro in 2018 – just to fiddle around. Then, I had heart attack and a stroke. So it sat in a corner until about a month ago. I watched some videos and upgraded the firmware from 4.1 to 5.1 and bought a Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 on Ebay for 35 bucks. I flashed that to work properly with the Mac and added an SSD drive – left the old 500 gig SATA drive in the thing, too. It only had 6 gig of RAM so I bumped it up to 32 gig. Just to see what would work I tried to install every version of Mac OSX after El Capitan using the OpenCore Legacy patcher. Catalina and Mojave did not work with that tool but I used something from a guy named "dosdude1" and those worked. And all of the others worked with the OpenCoreLegacy patch tool. Now – for no reason in particular – I have Mojave, Monterey, and Ventura on various partitions and drives. Even Ventura runs pretty well considering I am using a really old Mac, the "wrong" kind of processor, etc. I had never heard of Martin Lo so thanks for the info. I have to imagine that future releases will become impossible to hack in this way, but, it's certainly better to be able to get up to Monterey or Ventura over El Capitan. Good video.

  2. I like that you use your CMP5,1 for Production & you are conservative. I started w/ Martin Lo , but switched to OCLP. Pls tell the reason(s) in more detail why you don’t use OCLP ? I have 3 4,1’s and 3 5,1’s with Hyper V server 2019 Big Sur, Monterey & Ventura. Why don’t you test Ventura on another SSD so you can give us tips & Status ? Please Keep Up the Good Work. O yea Good Guitar playin’

  3. Oh man, thanks god someone has put some light on this subject. You can't imagine how useful it has been for me to watch this video. This is gold for a newbie like me. Let me ask you a question. After many doubts and fears, I finally got down to work yesterday. I am currently using Mojave with an Rx580 and my boot ROM is 144.0.0.0.0.0 (so far so good). My computer is a Mac Pro (Mid 2012) 2.4 ghz-6 core intel xeon/16 gb ddr3 and Solid State Sata drive 500 gb. My question is, Can i go directly from Mohave to Monterey with 0.91 Martin Lo's package??

  4. From an admin on OpenCore for Mac Pro FB group “Which version you should use is very simple. If you MUST run a Kepler GPU and require Monterey, if you MUST keep the legacy WiFi/BT module and need them, or if you MUST run Ventura, OCLP is the answer. For everything else, Martin Lo's package is the answer.” This refers to the Mac Pro 5,1.

  5. I have 2 x MP 4.1 running Martin’s OC with Big Sur, running great! And I acquired a bunch of iMac 27” 2013’s. Used OC Legacy Patcher to get one to Monterey. worked flawlessly!

  6. Very good video and I wish I had found this earlier, when I was first trying to get OC running on my cMP 4,1 (flashed to 5,1). Thank you for taking time to review these. And for the classic Mac Pro, all I can say is "Go Martin Lo!"

  7. hey hello, just watched your vid about 3 times, it's great!! kindof what i am going through right now….. maybe you might know a version to upgrade my 2008 early macbook air 1,1….id like to get up to el capitan or somewhere close maybe even serria…would you know any thing i can use?
