unable to upload new certificate to Poweredge FX2’s

Good Morning all,

first post as I plan to get more in depth in VMware as a newly employed Virtualization admin.

I am trying to upload a new security certificate to our Dell poweredge FX2 using the web GUI interface. upon choosing the file to upload I receive a bad file type (which is a .crt) and I am at a loss.

would anyone happen to know any solutions?

  1. I’ve actually done a bunch of these, the file has to be a .cer for it to accept it. I believe if you are doing it through AD PKI it will require you to choose the option other than default when you download it. Without requesting I can’t remember what that is exactly.

  2. Contacted Dell and even they had no solutions. Currently waiting on one of their engineers to get back to me. In the meantime I’ve just generated new CSRs and sent them off for validation to try again and hope for a miracle. Appreciate the help! I’ll keep y’all informed

  3. ok so the new Security Certificates worked. I received the operation successful pop-up but upon viewing the cert from the CMC’s radio button it still displays the old self-signed cert. Not sure if I should power cycle the FX2 or just keep waiting.
