  1. Tom, do you know if xcp-ng is being used in U.S. gov type environments? I would love to move that direction but not sure if any regulatory issues would come up. Also, any suggestions for application aware backups (I.e. Active Directory, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.) and granular recovery? That’s the biggest strike against the XO backups for me right now. Thanks for the great, informative content

  2. After scores of apps needing to be re-installed, and some of them not willing to point their config data to a handy place, I've found a technique that allows for successful upgrades nearly all the time. Stop the app. Then upgrade the oldest version of the app one upgrade at a time until you get to the newest version. No need to start the app until you're all done, but it appears that some apps migrate data from the previous version during upgrades. If it doesn't fully start after waiting a reasonable time, stop the app and start it again. I've had really good success doing it this way, and I have more apps than fit on the app page. Also, upgrade one app at a time, sometimes scale gets lost when trying to upgrade multiple apps at once.

  3. My true nas update did not go problem free, but it's not their fault. The encode that get the fan rpm died on one of my fans. The fan only has 2 months of up time, and it still spins at what looks like full speed.
