“Airtime Thrills”

Over the years, there have been a LOT of official announcements that never came to be. The parks get our hopes up and tear them down. These are the 10 additional moments, chosen by my Instagram followers and YouTube viewers, where we got played for fools.

Part 1:…

  1. Part of the Westcot California Adventure drama involved Disney's attempts to aquire Knott's in the 1990s. They basically choose a quick and cheap knockoff of Knott's themes in an attempt to sideline Knott's when the original family was looking to sell.

  2. Speeds story gets even more interesting when you take into account that Adventuredome originally planned to buy it, and only opted out when S&S offered El Loco for cheaper than it would be to rennovate speed, not sure if you can find it online, but the parks lead ride engineer Joey Rukavina confirmed this last october at ACE's Viva Las Acers Event

  3. Well, we already know part 3 is happening (which is great), so I might as well give you the idea of mentioning the 3rd Disneyland Paris that they habe been saying to build for decades.

  4. Darien Lake was on track to get a RMC wood/hybrid coaster called Lake Monster sometime in 2014. There was even evidence of it looking like it was set to take place. It was rumored to be similar to Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City. However, those plans would later be scrapped therefore never happening again due to Herchend selling off the park and SF acquiring the operating rights since EPR fully owns the park

  5. Disney has so many announced or planned giant projects, including entire parks, that never went anywhere–you could fill whole videos with it, and people have.
WestCOT was actually the successor to Long Beach Port Disney/DisneySea, which also sounded like a pretty ambitious project. I think the picture at 12:35 is actually of the Long Beach project. Parts of that ended up incorporated into Tokyo DisneySea, though to be fair the Tokyo park is probably more than what we would have gotten in Long Beach. And the "boardwalk" section sounds like Paradise/Pixar Pier at California Adventure.

  6. Your Cedar Point 2 portion actually is showing graphics for two different pitches. Originally, the plan was to build in Onsted on the land they owned until 2012. But many of the graphics you used were for a pitch after that for a 1978 opening in Battle Creek, MI in the Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids Metro Area. It would’ve been built adjacent to W.K. Kellogg Airport (now Battle Creek Executive Airport) and right next to the Fort Custer Military Base. This also fell through before the land was acquired but was aimed to open in 1978 and would’ve included a coaster similar to Gemini (with some rumors claiming Gemini was originally designed to be built there).

  7. I feel sadness whenever I see an RMC Raptor. If Michigan's Adventure would get one of the lower-priced RMC Coasters, they could have a perfect One-two punch, but NAW UCE, Cedar Fair doesn't want to make cash. Funk on them for this. Enjoy getting blasted on Twitter for owning MI Adventure Cedar Fair Jabronis.

  8. Skyliner at Miracle Strip Pier Park.

A GCI wooden coaster that was promised for Panama City Beach, FL, but never fully came through due to the park's eviction from the land. The area now houses Swampy Jack's Wongo Adventure, and after talking with the owner, they said that there's absolutely no interest to build a larger, headlining roller coaster.
