Hackintosh in 2022 – Does It Make Any Sense

Just a few years ago, building a Hackintosh was very popular. You can build basically a Windows style PC, and if you know all the right steps and you’ve picked all the right parts for that build, you can install OSX on that funny Windows looking PC, that is actually a full blown Mac Machine that looks like a PC.

For many, you can build a cheaper way to get into OSX at the time, but you still had to pick lesser quality components if you wanted to make the equivalent mac, which wouldn’t make it really any cheaper. You’d also have issues with OSX updates, and you had to wait until someone released all the code necessary if a new OSX came out, you could not just do automatic OS updates, which i never good for audio computer anyway.

Well has the arrival of the M1, M1Pro and M1 Max changed all of that considering you can get a crazy powerful MacBook Air properly spec’d for audio for around $1100 and the same Spec’d Mac ini for a little over $1000l
