In this video I demonstrate the proof of concept of a 100% Virtual CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure version 1.1 home lab. The Cisco Virtual Catalyst 9K switch image is a beta release that we have running in EVENG for the purpose of this demonstration.

  1. Hey Terry, Great Channel, I don't know how you resolved the mtu size on cat 9kv, as its supported size range is(1500-8978). dnac alway push the jambo size 9100? this can create lots of problem?

  2. Hi Terry, This video helped me a lot to build the virtual Dnac setup, so thank you so much but I faced challenges with it. First one is switches are much slow during the synchronisation and one of the switches has a health issue which is 1 very low and switch stop communication with other and the role of the switch is edge. pls help me in this and thank you so much 🙏

  3. Thanks Terry for great Video, i am using the same 9K but observed same serial number in all my switches. You also using multiple devices, whether all you switch has same serial numbers or unique. did you manage to find the solution to have unique serial numbers?

  4. Dear Terry,

Thanks for the great videos and tips , Could you please give me your opinion if the below Server Specs will be sufficient for me to practice for SD-WAN / SD-Access / ISE & DC ? this is my current maximum budget , also will i need additional storage or the 1TB SSD will be sufficient ?

    Dell R730
Dual Processor Intel XEON 2673 V4
    20 CPU Core Threads X2 / 25MB CACHE X2
TOTAL 40 CORES 80 vCPU Threads
    320 GB RAM
    1TB SSD

  5. Hi Terry, congratulations for your great videos! I have a question about cisco 9kv. I can provision the 9kv with my DNA Center but when I try to create a Fabric on a box and declear the 9kv as a Control-node the process fails with the message "ip routing is not configured" but it is so. Have you encountered this error? Regards

  6. Hey Terry, i got everything up and running but having issues adding the switches to DNAC because the 9kv serial numbers are the same. Have you run into this and is there a fix or workaround?

  7. Hi Terry, where did you get ver 17.11 and how did you manage to get different serial numbers for each node? I paid for the Personal + license but each node I add have the same serial number?

  8. Hey Terry, i read somewhere that this cat9kv image has a pinned serial number which only lets you use one instance in sda fabric. Is that the case as you seem to have added 4 of them?

  9. Thanks Terry for your videos.I have been able to build my lab in EVE-NG using the Cat9kv-prd-17.10.01prd7.qcow2 image, however, when I tried to assign the corresponding roles for FIAB I get the following error "the Device Role Border Node, Control Plane and Fabric Edge is not supported on this device" . Is there a reason why DNAC is complaing about this. My device model is Cisco Catalyst 9000 UADP 8 Port Virtual Switch. Thanks

  10. Hey Terry, so I feel inspired in all this and I'm going to build a 3rd ESXI host with dual XEON's to meet the 60+ vCPU threshold and build out the DNAC 1.3.x. Can you detail what your recommendation is on RAM requirement? Is 256Gb RAM enough?

  11. Hey Terry, love this channel and your videos. Outstanding work here. Thank you for the time and energy putting this together for the community. Question for you on the Cat9Kv's; do you see high latency on the links? The EVE-NG Pro default template for these images is Qemu 5.2 w/ virtio-pci NIC's, and I have mine up and running fine, but latency is very high, anywhere from 100-200 ms. Do you see the same in your environment? I have my c8000v's cabled up to the Cat9kv's but the latency is very high.

  12. Hi Terry, from what I know the only way to have the image cat9kv-prd-17.10.01prd7.qcow2 is if you have CML 2.5 Version. At the moment is not at Cisco Software Download Center. Also the Equipment and Software List for EI v1.1, for switches has physical C9300 with IOS XE 17.9. Do you believe when Cisco release the C9kV with IOS XE 17.10 it will be sufficient for studying or we still need the physical devices?

  13. It's great that all the components become available as virtual, but the ressources are so massive, even the cat9k images require 32GB or ram, and then you also have to run the dnac appliance and the ise engine, so it does become expensive to run unless they modify it.
