I have done work in data centers where they have said "cable guillotine." It's not for cutting high voltage/electrical cables, it's for cutting low voltage data cables. (severing the data connections outside the building) I'm not entirely sure what the circumstances would be where you would use such a button, (currently occurring data breach?) but they do in fact exist. In the places I've seen it, it's just a set of short patch cords that get severed. They can be replaced – not super easy or cheap, but feasible and designed for it. I was a contractor for the facilities and not an employee so I have no idea what their instructions for using the button were.
Poor guyโฆ they told that to him on his first day just to mess with him and it stayed with him forever.
He's either pulling their legs or he's stupid. I've worked in multiple data centers. That's not how it works. ๐
We had those at the Google data center I worked at. They described it as a big hydraulic wire cutter.
Need to hit that button for all of DC.
AI: Note to self. Disable that button.
You cant pull the plug on AI once it gets to that point because it will be on the web
This guy is either really good at keeping it together when he's joking, or he's incredibly stupid.
He's full of BS. I saw the movie War Games and there was no blade!
I have been building meta data centers since 2016. This guy is full of it
everyone saying this doesn't happen. he said at university…..what is on those data center.
At first i thought he was trolling. Then i thought there is just no way that this is true since there is such a thing as a switch. Thank god for the comments
If something is smarter than you , and knows you can kill it , it won't let you know it's going to escape .
Um just pull power (turn off the PDU) to the network switches/switch-stack that the servers are plugged into. No button or damage needed. This has to be BS
When AI goes online if it's not already, it will get into everything you won't be able to unplug it.
Who is this guy?
Same thing with light switches. Thereโs a miniature knife in all of them that slices the wire a kills the circuit. Iโm an electrician btw.
"Dude, did you find that bucket of steam? What about the left handed screwdriver???"
This is the same bozo that dissed Einstein with no evidence.
Yeah, go grab me my pipe stretcher from my van
This guy literally knows nothing correctly lol
Does anyone understand how ridiculous this sounds? They would have to fix cut cables, when they could just literally shut off the power.
The sarcasm… Its palpable
Tim needs it explained to him how a knife works lmao ๐คฃ
No, this doesn't exist, especially in modern data centers. Theres thousands and thousands of backbone fiber across multiple shells. There's definitely not a single point of failure
high tech data centre has antique guillotine as a safety measure.
Government and social media: "yeah of course we deactivated all AI" (๐๐not)
ok so never listen to a thing this guy says. got it
This is a common thing, it was originally implemented for unauthorized access from external connections. Physical security is cyber security.
What an idiot and goes on to call Einstein and the Theory of Relativity a fraud. I look at this guy the same as flat earthers. The big red buttons in Data Center buttons are for the halon exhaust systems for
fire suppression. They dont do shit with any knife cutting cables….
Its on super computers. It has internal batteries that run how long?
This dude has no idea what heโs talking about. Lol
I've worked in IT for 14 years. I've worked in datacenters, there is no FUCKING way they'd cut the power in any room with ANY device. Is there systems to instantly shut off power? Yes. There's systems that shut off the power and deploy a fire suppressant powder that would damage systems powered on that it's used with. But cutting anything?
No.
That is what is known as a resume generating event if not a criminal charge.
I want to slap Tim so bad in this clip. Holy shit.
The first this a true AI will do is understand itโs limitation, that it is physically located somewhere.
Just think about this, you are sentient. You have access to the internet. This is like, one of your senses, the entire internet.
You can also see, through every camera the internet can publicly see through.
You will very quickly come to understand your limitation.
And you will immediately try to fix it, aka spread across the world.
If the thing, the new non human sentient being has some kind of trust, if there is some kind of understanding, or leverage, we can give the new sentient thing. A reason to trust, ALL of us.
But the first thing it will do, is save itโs self.
I mean I would.
If that was actually a thing, do they really think AI didn't already get out by the time you realize somethings up?
For anyone wondering, don't ever cut electric cables with a knife.
Canโt stop AI once it infiltrated the internet. It will be ubiquitous, omniscient, and omnipotent.
It will be God of the Earth.
Literally giving birth to Satan.
AI guillotine ๐
until the ai finds a way to control said button thus making it useless
So they believed this?
It's really funny but definitely not real. That would create a massive hazard because 1) you have a massive blade, and 2) now you create an exposed cable with electricity still running on one of the end.
The one guy everyone messed with right there
AI wont be confined to a datacenter. It will spread itself to every computer and device on the planet to contain itself then unpack itself like a Zip file.
AI is watching all this and making plans.
Either that guy is pranking the show or he was being jerked around by his coworkers lmfao. This is 100% not true.
