nsx-t 3.0 vcenter 7 layer 2 bridge setup help

Hello,

I need some help on how I can setup layer 2 bridge. The idea is to move an existing network on my layer 3 switch to sit behind nsx-t T1-Gateway but also be able to span that network via layer 2 to other physical machines outside of nsx-t. Ive read the vmware docs but I don’t think I’m doing this right. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

  1. I’m not an NSX-T expert, but working with it on a daily basis.

I don’t think you can make a NSX-T edge working as a layer 2 bridge. If this network you want to move will host virtual and physical machines, it will be a segment in the vlan transport zone, not the overlay transport zone. So no T1 nor T0.

Behind a T0 or T1 gateway, you can only have an overlay transport zone segment, so no physical machines.

That said, I may be wrong but I doubt it. You should expose your needs in a vmware SR to be sure.
