If you are looking for a great mini PC for a home lab server that is capable of running both VMware ESXi and Proxmox, the Trigkey S7 Pro is a great little mini PC. It sports the Ryzen 7 7840HS processor, DDR5 memory, (2) M.2 slots, and an Intel 2.5G network adapter. Check out my review of the…

It’s stupid when companies put two different types of display ports on a PC. If you’re only gonna put two ports on there for display, either use display ports or use two HDMI ports so people don’t have to have different cables
Why can't any of these mini-pc companies put a half decent fan in their devices? Whenever I see one of these devices with a closed top I know they've done 0 work on resolving the thermal problems with these devices.
I been eyeing these mini-pc's for just such a thing, to run proxmox on. The only thing that has kept me from buying them is their reliability for 24hr use. Anything small like that has quite a bit of heat exchange going on. Plus, the price on these aren't exactly that cheap. It's more cost effective to just build a small itx machine instead. So that is what I have done. Running proxmox on a NR200 build. Put the mini-pc thought on the back burner for now.
but can you pass the GPU through to a VM?
Their web site isn’t showing the S7 at the moment. The only place it shows up is on Amazon which raises some questions for me.
Thanks for sharing, Would be nice to have a price per ghz/core/mem/watt chart 🙂
First one I have seen that has a Intel NIC and Ryzen CPU. What I really don't like is that it doesn't have two NICs. I don't like using VMware Flings. I would pounce on this if it had two NICs, assuming the mini isn't too loud at idle. Love that you can add another M.2 and SSD.
Looks a nice unit. The lack of available BIOS updates from Trigkey in general puts me off a bit.
no ECC, hard pass for my cluster
Sorry Man, I know it is your forte but you lost me a installing ESXi on that. Nice sounding machine though.
I could be wrong, but this looks like the GMKtec M5 Pro, but with an Intel nic instead of realtek. Basically what I wanted, but not what I got.
Why don't you link to the product on youtube? I had to scroll to the end of your website to see the product links.
Have the intel nic, nice
i have a similar one and vmware works perfectly
What version of wmare esxi
