cannot enable PCI Passthrough of Renesas µPD720… |VMware Communities


Hi, I would really appreciate some help here.

 

I just purchased an Renesas µPD720201 USB 3.0 Controller PCI-e card for my home lab running ESXi 6.7u3. However, I am not able to enable the PCI passthrough for this card. I tried in both ESXi and in vcenter. For example in ESXi, I checked this device, and clicked “toggle passthrough”, it then shows “enabled/needs reboot”. But after I reboot the ESXi, it is still showing disabled. Same thing happened when trying to enable this in vCenter.

 

My home lab system:

Asrock H87M Pro4. Currently have a LSI SAS 9707-8i pci-e card and a SIL3114 SATA PCI card passed through to two different VMs. Was hoping to passthrough the µPD720201 USB controller to a windows server vm. But the problem here is the passthrough can’t even be enabled.
