You can follow the steps below to install the 20.3 version of #LinuxMint on the VMware virtual machine.
Step 1: First, visit Linux Mint’s website from the link below and download the ISO installation file to your computer.
Step 2: After downloading the Linux Mint ISO file, open your #VMware virtualization program.
Step 3: Open the new virtual machine creation wizard.
Step 4: Continue with Custom (Advanced) in the VM wizard.
Step 5: Change the compatibility setting of the virtual machine according to the latest version of your Workstation program.
Step 6: Select “I will install the operating system later” to better configure the virtual machine settings before installing the guest operating system.
Step 7: Select the system platform you will install on the virtual machine as Linux and change the version to Ubuntu 64-bit.
Step 8: Configure the location where you will install your virtual computer and change its name.
Step 9: Configure an appropriate number of processor cores according to the characteristics of the processor hardware of your physical computer.
Step 10: Configure the RAM (Memory) size of your Linux Mint virtual computer in accordance with the RAM capacity of your computer.
Step 11: Select NAT for your VM’s network connection.
Step 12: Select LSI Logic as the I/O controller type.
Step 13: Change the virtual disk type to NVMe.
Step 14: Create a new virtual disk and configure the disk size higher than the recommended size.
Step 15: Leave the name and location of the virtual disk at the default value.
Step 16: Click Customize Hardware to further configure the virtual hardware settings of your Linux Mint guest machine.
Step 17: Click on Processors device and then tick Virtualization Engine properties.
Step 18: To add the Mint ISO file to your VM, select “Use ISO Image File” from the CD/DVD device and add the installation media via the Browse button.
Step 19: Change the compatibility setting to 3.1 from the USB device.
Step 20: If you don’t need the virtual printer device, delete it.
Step 21: Enable 3D graphics acceleration on the display device and configure an appropriate graphics memory size.
Step 22: After making the settings of the virtual machine, click OK and review the settings in the summary window and click Finish.
Step 23: Run your Linux Mint virtual machine for installation.
