I upsold a customer on cues 9 speed for their e-cargo bike. I was impressed how much quieter the drivetrain was when shifting to the smaller sprockets. I attribute this to the linkglide technology. I recommend it for any e-bike with mid drive motors.
Excellent video as my CUES 1X10 is in the mail now. Cannot wait to get it. Im a little qorry as my chain stay length is 425mm, hope there are no issues there
3:06 3:09 I think its better if the crank set is more big 38 to 40 teeth fd
My dream dream dream bike
runing my cues 10s u6000 for about 500km.. does the job quite well on an bbshd 52v
This makes sense to me. I have zero need of a 10 tooth sprocket on my 12 speed shimano cassette. The durability would be really welcome too. I seem to a go through an XT or SLX cassette once per season. Seems silly and I don't really care about weight on my trail bike. But, I watched your video on using AXS with Shimano 12 speed and now I'm hooked (BTW, you never did a follow up after that video. Are you still running AXS with Shimano?)
I think its pretty good and if installed on a newly purchased bike (regular or E) it could last the life of it. Having to use a crank puller…no big deal. This what you have if you just want to ride a bike and not think about charging, or replacing parts and performing maintenance. Great for the masses.
It does looks a tad slower shifting. That would throw me off. If not for your video, I would think I didn't tune it correctly. 😅 Still sticking with the m5100, but that new crank does looks cool, just not the crank puller part. Haven't used one of those in a few years.
Great Video and very informative.
I installed a 6000 series 2×11 on my hybrid 700 bike with 50/34T chainring. So, I installed the cues RD-U6020-11 and 11-45T linkglide cassette ( replacing 11-28T), the new cues shifter and linkglide chain. I agree the shifting is delayed but I am now used to it and after 800km it runs very smoothly.
As a mechanic, it's always funny to see, how some people " calculate" the length of the chain😁👍‼️
I even don't try to understand the math, of adding 5 to 6 links or 6 to 7 links.
From what reference line? From witch position? Rear Derailleur cage 90 degrees? (doesn't matter at all!)???????
In work education school for mechanics, to install a chain properly, you always start with small – small, before cutting, try big – big ( 3 ring crankset 😂). And your adding mathematics, is only nessesery with Full suspension bikes, and I only do it at my DH Bike. Otherwise, the capacity of the rear Derailleur " makes" it for us. Especially, since 1 x anything 😁😎😁😎😂😂‼️
Another awesome vid thank you for that!!! The cues stuff looks good to me but I like the work horse xt line.Cheers!!!
A mix and march between 11s components for sure, not only for the linkglide cassete and m5100 compatibility but also the other way around, using linkglide components with older generation "light-ish" cassettes, some sunrace 11-46 for example. It may not make sense with this particular derailleur, being high range, but it may be a good setup with a m5130 for example, if it works
Eew. So much wrong with this drive train and it cost more than deore at the moment 😅
I really like how people barelly use old stuff that works instead of the old stuff, that was really good a while ago, much cheaper and that in many parts of the world would be right way to go, because a carbon expensive bike is really not what you need, when you barely have roads without asphalt. :))). World under bubbles. Rich vs poor, the ugly truth. I'd literally have to do a train ride every weekend for such stuff, while going to the supermarket for shopping is definitely overkill this, if you want to also take into account possible thieves.
Hi, what BB do you recommend in the mid/high level for a shimano 12s with SLX crankset, thanks.
The lesser spotted crank removal tool.
It’s not good for racing because it shifts slowly.
8:40 – I will definitely if the claimed 3x better durability is the case.
BTW
Does this crank spider (on a drive side) is compatible with an Octalink II BB?
At 1:35 it looks familiar (so does the puller at 1:58).
What I really want to see is mix and match series stuff with cues. I know Shimano say they're incompatible, but i still want to see it.
tip for better shifting on long therm: immediately throw away the stock shimano green inner cable and replace it with a good quality, stainless, grinded one.
Would it be possible to use just the CUES crank with an older rear derailleur with a 9 speed chain?
Requiring a crank puller is a step backwards. Not really sure what Shimano is doing lately. I suppose this a more recreational group set where users aren’t likely to be wrenching their own bikes. 🤷♂️ Love my XT stuff for the most part but Shimano is slipping more and more rapidly. SRAM really pulled the rug out with UDH.
Have I seen Unior tools wrench in your hand. Well that is an old company from Slovenia very well known for quality tools ever since Yugoslavia time, which I barelly remember as a small kid. I still remember my fathers Unior tool box made of metal. Their tools are really quality ones, shortly tools for life.
I just built a winter beater bike with the 10 speed and 11-48 cassette. It definitely feels slower. But it works fine, most consumers won't even care
The LinkGlide XT shifter does not have double click upshift. They did not include since it was originally intended for ebikes.
I'm surprised you didn't need spacers for your BB. I tried to install that same BB on my wife's bike but her frame is narrow so tightening the CUES crankset without spacers left the cranks visibly offset towards the non-drive side.
I use linkglide with XT M8130 derailleur. Can someone explain to me, what's the difference between CUES U6000 and RD-M8130SGS?
Also, changing gears down the cassete is lightning fast on my setup.
Nice video you crazy son of a bitch. lol
I would have loved to see the 11-51 Teeth cassette from M5100 make a Linkglide comeback, but I think that it won't be missed too much considering the already high count of Teeth at 50.
Thanks fo rmovie. Shifting down is not as bad as i thought. I can't wait till I check 11 speed XT version 😉
Nobody will race with these components so it is ok to shift a little slower. You will get used to it anyway. It makes it last longer and thats good.
Good video, I've just installed u6000 1×10 on my city bike and I've found the shifting to be very good, it shifts a bit slower than my 1×12 deore but a way to mitigate that is simply to spin the cranks faster.
